Guarantee me no lawsuits and i will practice like this everyday !!!!!!!!!!

Not to mention the long hours that we have to wait outside the god damn door.

Yay, for nerds getting into an argument of whether or not this is medically accurate. It isn't, and same with 3/4 of the medical programs on TV but I don't see people lining up outside these TV station's headquarters screaming that it isn't medically accurate. It is supposed to be funny, and we all know, medical school student/doctor or not, that people will most likely not wake up in the middle of a surgical procedure like this.

I'm a 4th year medical student and I would like to say all you guys debating about the best practice in this situation are making me weep with pity at the fact you can't enjoy the comedy value and the quality this advert has been done. Fudgebags, James...shut the fuck up.

@Fudgebags Luckily this is a humorous video and not an instructional one.
-
@James15506 I agree - you're not going to make them anymore dead! I suppose the rationale behind not doing it is that you're going to waste precious time (stopping compressions, making sure everyone is clear of the bed, charging and shocking, checking the rhythm... )which could be spent performing chest compressions to maintain some sort of cardiac output.
-
@Fudgebags Well, why not? I mean it's not like defibrillation is going to make the patient more dead. But you're probably right, I'm sure most doctors wouldn't shock at that point. I'm an EMT, but I've never actually seen a code.

@James15506 This is a blast from the past, this thread! True technology can fail, but you don't just go around attempting to defibrillate asystole or PEA on the off-chance that your monitor is faulty...
-
@Fudgebags Well, you're right. The heart has to be in V-tach or V-fib, but you're forgetting something. Just because the monitor says he's flatlining doesn't mean that his heart has no electrical activity. Technology can fail.

I remember this commercial! I think it was like 1997 or probably later than that...
LOL at all the weiners who are too uptight to enjoy the humor around them. Must be a bleak and pathetic life they all lead.
My favorite part is "Beep Beep" at 0:44!

You obviously don't know anything about resuscitation. Defibrillation will not work unless the patient is in ventricular fibrillation or ventricular tachycardia. A heart which has no electrical activity (i.e flatline) will not work. Want a reference? Look up ALS guidelines.
