The Greens and Food security

We all care from where our food comes from. At present Australian farmers face a number of challenges. We have just experienced a drought over the last 10 years and also have depleted our soils.

Our farmers face competition from cheap food from overseas and we have depleted our soils both chemically and physically.

The greens have been working with farmers to help protect their land from mining and encroachment from urban sprawl. We believe that there should be a legislative frame work to protect our farmlands as well as our water resources and maintain long term agriculture. To protect our long term food supply and ensure a robust and healthy rural economy vote 1 Joe Ebono in Richmond and Lee Rhiannon in The Senate.
