Same event like "A340-600 rejected take off" but from a different perspective. The upper picture is filmed by a camera mounted below the fuselage. The lower is filmed by a camera mounted on top of the fin.

  • Thank you Kathrin for your video!!the fire is from the brakes?how long can the a340 taxi after a rto?I hope to see your videos from the cockpit view very soon again...Happy landings!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It depends on the Take off weight, outside air temp., take off speed, slope of the runway and so on. You can not say how long you can taxi after an rto. We have the policy after an RTO during high speed to stop on the RWY and call the fire brigade.

  • lol

wieso kommt da keiner und hilft ! ?

  • Das ist lebensgefährlich wenn die Reifen explodieren! Ist schon richtig daß die erst mal nicht so nah hin gehen.

    LG

  • Haven't you seen the 777 RTO video? The brakes DO catch on fire before the five minute mark. The five minute mark is just to average in ground equipment response time. The real test is whether or not the plane stopped before running off the runway. Stop being a Boeing fanboy.

  • it not the fault of airbus it's the wheel manufactuer who failed to properly design the fuse plugs

  • Actually, most modern airliners have cameras located on the belly to check the gear is down or not, plus to make sure there are no people or obstacles in the way of the gear. Many aircraft can be modified to have these cameras installed.

  • @flamesdesired

2: you can't come from the sides. when tires explode the major force goes to the sides. it would be too dangerous

  • Ok, A340 failed it's initial RTO test. The real story is how badly these firefighters FAILED to extinguish the fire well efficiently once they decided to put it out.

1: you are not going to occlude O2 with foam on that sort of structure, use water and lots of it to remove heat.

2: come from sides to cool wheel then attack burning rubber.

3: Those were big flames and incompetent firefighters, EVACUATE, use the damn slides, to hell with costs, test pilots are expensive too!

  • @felipeporta: Song is Identify by Natalie Imbrulgia from the Stigmata soundtrack.

  • Definetly agree, I mean, they could alrady spend sooo much money devolping this aircraft and othr stuff like that so whats that feww thouseands gonna do to them. They should also put some plugs that realeases air so that they dont blow.

  • yeah okay. The reactions of the people in the video says otherwise.

  • it was meant to happen, they knew it would. It was just a test.

  • Considering they cut corners on the cost of the wheels and tires to begin with, I think they could've afforded to spend the thousands to put the slides back in.

  • Uhm, the tires were smoking after the brake test, and then exploded one by one. After which, the wheel bases themselves caught fire...

  • lol did you see the fireman on the lower right side get covered in foam, lol! I want to see aftermath pictures of this carnage.
