The McLaren Group welcomed a group of local teachers and students to the McLaren Technology Centre for a rare, behind the scenes glimpse into life as a McLaren engineer.

The students taking part in the tour were selected through the McLaren Manufacturing Challenge whereby students were set the task of designing, and building, a motor-less vehicle to carry an object over a 10 metre distance in the quickest time possible. Woking College took the chequered flag with their ingenious mouse-trap propelled vehicle with an impressive time of 2.28 seconds.

  • Love to see McLaren fueling the minds of a future generation of engineers. :-)

  • See, for most education what students need is motivation, not lecture and notes alone.

  • Nice teaching opportunity. Let's go design some race cars!

  • Are these tours free? If so make the airfare free too!

  • Visiting Hogwarts!!!

  • Excellent!

  • Fantastic.

  • First developing young drivers, now developing young engineers. Very smart. You have a bright future!

  • The kids looked like several characters in Harry Potter

  • I need to win the lottery. My brain wants a 458 Italia and a MP4-12c.

Two very different cars but perfection on different ways.
