Made out of love.
The Unico films are fascinating for adults for what they say about the cost of hatred, and loneliness. This one in particular is a beautiful children's film - and I wouldn't let my kids watch it at age 4 like I did, because it's so sad!
Unico's gifts cause him to make people happy, & the gods hate him for that, & in order to protect him, the spirit of the West Wind must whisk him from one place to another as soon as he's made friends. So he spends his life saying good-bye, breaking their hearts.
So, I wouldn't subject little kids to it - I hate seeing kids cry. Not to mention it contains scenes of underage drinking, drugged drinks & seduction, a graphic impaling, & a HUGE-ASS DEMON RUPTURING THE EARTH.
Too adorable.
