The Exhibition Road Project part 1

A short video of what I awake to every morning, and will be doing for several months yet. A simple 1/2 mile repaving job you'd think, this supposedly 'phased' £29.7m (!) project, has the entire length of the road under construction from South Ken station to Hyde Park. Started in Jan 2010, 5 of the 19 phases were due to be finished in July 2010. None have yet been completed. Instead, another length of road is dug up rather than completing earlier sections. An example of how the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster Council, the Mayor of London, Transport for London, Balfour Beatty, National Grid Gas and Skanska work together to make life a nightmare for the 25,000 visitors to the area every day not to mention the disruption to local businesses and residents alike. I have asked to meet with the relevent parties to discuss solutions several times but there is always some reason or other that they cannot make it. Makes you proud to be British.
