Note: Launch at 1:39
My seventh day hang gliding. On the drive to the ridge I took my Hang 2 written test and passed! All I have left to do is submit my paperwork to USHPA to earn an official Novice rating!
This flight was my first foot launch and also my first ridge soaring attempt. All of my previous training has been done with scooter towing at a flat wide open field. So the feeling of running off the side of a hill is new to me. The Site was Richmond Dales Ridge.
The flight only lasted just under 6 minutes but I'm not even a little disappointed since I got to experience my first foot launch and my first ridge lift all without incident. Now back to the training field to work on efficient turns and smooth control!
The school is Wings To Fly! http://www.aldenaviationworks.com/
I'm also keeping a blog about my training and hang gliding weekends here: http://mypathtopilot.blogspot.com/
Forgot to ask, is Alden Aviation a good place to train with? I saw their website a few days ago and it's one of the very few in the Great Lakes region. I live in SW Michigan and the nearest one is the DragonFly Soaring Club at Cloud 9 field over by Warren, MI, and I really don't want to have to join a club to learn hang gliding.

After 4 minutes of flight it looks like you could darn near land back on the hill you launched from!
