@fredriquemagic So you clearly never listened to any of his albums, just the stuff that people post online. Look up some of Matt's older stuff off of Please or Ernst. I never said Springsteen couldn't write a good song.

@BSokolowski16 Matt Nathanson is a COVER ARTIST. HE CANNOT BE BETTER THEN ANYONE "LYRICALLY" because they ARENT HIS LYRICS!
and if you want to see a good lyrical artist then why don't you give a listen to anything springsteen has EVER written

"lyrically, Mat is much better than the boss" Are you generally brain dead or just as smart as a jar of mayo? Seriously, no disrespect to Matt Nathanson, but it is total JACKASSES l ike you make Nathanson look like nothing more than a hippy cover band. Bsokolwski, do me a favor, listen to Born To Run album. Even you can detect some "emotion" when he sings Jungleland or Backstrees. Until then....be well.

Depends on which version of this song you're talking about. Personally, I think the Vh1 Storytellers version is much better than what is on Tunnel of Love.
Matt does a great job in covering this. Sings with the same emotion and passion that is in the original/vh1 version while adding enough to make it his own. That's all that matters, honestly.

I love Matt, more than the boss. Lyrically, Matt is much better and I think he generally sings with a ton of emotion. That being said, this song isn't my favorite work of Matt's as far as the performance goes.
