@Josephmeraz Nevertheless, Cyndaquil was based off of a long-nosed echidna. Some people do consider hedgehogs and echidna to be rodents, even though they actually aren't, which could explain the Pokedex entry; also, it could just be a wrong translation or a direct translation. It could even be space issues. Either way, Cyndaquil ARE long-nosed echidna, and they DO evolve into short-nosed echidna. Hence the quills.

In the Pokedex they say Cyndaquil is a Fire mouse pokemon. Not an echinda, mongoose or any other thing. Alex29464 was right.
