The Mormon Church has raised $20 million to pass Prop 8, which would "eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry." That's why the Courage Campaign Issues Committee gathered 17,345 signatures on a letter to President-Prophet Thomas Monson asking the Church to stop funding Prop 8. For more information, go to:

  • @tdman56 Marriage indeed has origins in religion, however today it is also a secular word that has legal and social implications. Is agency or the Article of Faith #11 no longer valued ideas to Mormons? Is this not a case of equal protection under the law? Further, is the Establishment Clause that guarantees a separation of church and state no longer the law of the land? Personal beliefs do not dictate public law. You cannot rationalize treating gay people as 2nd class citizens.

  • What a joke. I am proud to be and LDS member. This video is a sham. We all have free choice. The meaning of marriage is one man and one woman. Why do gays believe they can change a biblical union. I guess when you think that God accepts anything people throw at him, you feel peace. The church does not discriminate, it protects the rights of individuals. But it doesn't have to accept beliefs that are not in accordance with scripture. Homosexuality isn't in accordance.

  • @FreeThinkingLDS thats what they gathered, not the entire pro human rights side

not to mention prop h8 passed by a few percentage points

and your screen name is an oxymoron

  • California population: 37,253,956; Signatures: 17,345.

I can see why the vote didnt go the way they had hoped or. (No really, not sarcasim, I literally can see why it did not go their way)

    just saying.

  • @majinish yes but the mormon cult itself should no be donating to stuff like prop h8

  • So you don't feel like Mormons should vote even though the CONSTITUTION of the UNITED STATES gives us the RIGHT TO VOTE.

  • The Mormon Church says there is a heaven? Any proof?

  • @cooldude2oo7 I love all people, Jesus taught to love the sinner and hate the sin. You could say the same thing about a pedophile, rapist, schitzophrenic, war victim, serial killer, fornicator, etc and that is who they are! Should you so choose although I am sure not all would agree with you on that one. Being a human being is complicated and not that simple if you ask me. But even assuming you are correct that does not mean it is always in accordance to the teachings of Jesus Christ, period.

  • @AdAequitas Loving someone is not an act of infidelity or selfishness an it is especially not anything to be ashamed of. It defines who a person is, it is not a life choice that they chose to do - it is who they are! Think of all the unfortunate people (and there is alot of them) that are gay but try to convince themselves they are not through fear of being shunned from society - it is not something people choose, love is love - a heterosexual love is NO different from a homosexual love. LOVE.

  • @cooldude2oo7 I agree I think Jesus would be sad for all the people not following his teachings which include sex only with your spouse of the opposite sex. There is a lot of infidelity, selfishness, greed and self-destructiveness not just in California but all over the world.
