I expect every High Speed pinball machine that's repaired like this to have a little sticker that changes the sign at 5:02 into "Drive 555 and stay alive". :-)

i've noticed that intelligent people often have very low penmanship skills. you are no exception

I spent hours and hours playing High Speed. It's my favourite Pinball machine!

there is quite amazing sound coming out of that, i wonder what would the original (functional) chip have sounded like compared to the FPGA?
-
THATS RIDICULOUS! I've gotta be honest these videos just keep inspiring me to do more tinkering and create more stuff. thank you and keep them coming.
-
That is an awesome game, play it if you get a chance! XD
-
I guess it could be with a simple microcontroler, RC filter and an op-amp
-
Reminds me of Back To The Future 3 where Doc rebuilds a fried microchip using 1955 analog components.

She lost me at hello ;-)
Jeri, great work!
Mostly joking: Don't suppose you know how a Toshiba T6721A works (As in Commodore Magic Voice)?

@mgoodhew I haven't looked at it before. I've always dreamed of reverse engineering one of the speech chips.

Wow, that was a lot of work to replace a chip! Couldn't you have just put out the word that you were looking for one and wait to see if one of us drooling cretins would offer it up as a present to our electronic goddess?

@CampKohler It was more about doing it. I probably have a junk pinball board with one on it here.
