Suvarna news: Chickballapur - In two separate horrific incidents in Karnataka, nine travellers from India's tech capital of Bangalore were lynched to death by villagers who were suspicious of their movements.

In the first case, eight people were thrashed by villagers on their visit to Errakote, which is 10 kms from Chintamani taluk in Chikaballapur. The villagers apparently grew suspicious of the visitors' movements and beat them up.

Six of the eight travellers died and two others are undergoing treatment at Bangalore's Nimhans hospital.
n the second incident, three persons were beaten to death near Varalahalli, about 5 kms from Chintamani again after the villagers thought that the strangers were thieves.

Four persons who have been lynched have been identified as residents of Anantpur district in Andhra Pradesh.

The police have surrounded the village and fearing police action many villagers have fled. Over 38 villagers have been detained by the police.
