"I didn't know it was against the law to film in malls in the States but there are a lot of things you are not allowed to do there" The Malls are private property. The owners can do what ever want, or at least they can try. But yeah it's stupid.

there is an extremely OPPRESSIVE atmosphere in SLC. I know because I lved there over 30 years and the reason its like that is the LDS church. They stifle their members and non-members alike.

Spent a couple of great weeks in Sandy a couple of years ago and its good to see some of the sights again, got told it was a dry state and no alcohol. thank god i was being wound up even if the beer is a bit on the weak side, still met a lot of nice people and had a great time. hopefully gonna go back soon..

@skateboard325 I got asked to stop taking pictures in this mall when I was working as a reporter. I finished taking the pics I needed, but they were obviously upset about the whole thing. Their justification had to do with trademarks used throughout the mall being protected. I had to point out to them that kicking reporters out of public places, even if they are private property, usually backfires in court, and do they really want to piss off a major newspaper over a few pictures?

I hope you all realize, you have freedom of the press and can record anything you want unless it's on Fed Govt property. Rent a cops come by and tell you to stop recording, you can have them sent to prison for impeeding on your civil rights.
