Here is a fine jazz/blues effort by Benny Morton's Trombone Choir recorded in 1944 and here released on a 12" Keynote label 78 rpm record. Along with Benny Morton, Bill Harris also played trombone. John Guarnieri played piano and Big Sid Catlett was on drums. Over 4 1/2 minutes of great jazz. Enjoy!

  • I love vinyl, I also love the way this video starts, thanks for posting.

What turntable is this??? It reminds me of one of the early Thorens models.

This is a Garrard 4HF from about 1960. Plays 16 inch radio transcriptions.

  • Bill Harris is/was my favorite trombone player and his best stuff is so hard to find. This is one of his better efforts, I think. Never heard it before. Thanks for posting!

  • "Avalon"

  • Awesome!

Make sure to post all the Keynotes - both 10" & 12" - that you have, will ya? One of my labors of love with my stash is to accumilate any and every Keynote label jazz 78 issued - in addition to about 2 dozen Keynote 10"ers, I've got a slew of 12" Keynote 78s, including this one, some Red Norvo/Slam Stewart, Coleman Hawkins and the FIRST NINE (#'s 1300-1308) Keynote 12"ers issued - 2 with Count Basie at piano under the name "Prince Charming" !

    Exceptional music and sound quality.
