@joachimlat Many companies did use a control for quite a while but at this point nobody has any doubt that they keep you on the surface. The real question is perfecting the shape for protecting the skier and reducing mechanical failures during the slide. Read around for yourself but from my research I have been quite impressed. Personally I just ordered a BCA float 36, hopefully I won't have the opportunity to test it :P
I dont get why they dont use a dummy as well. This would make it easier to compare the effect of using a avalanche backpack vs. NOT using one.. How can you know that this specific avalanche would have burried a person without a bag?
