he's a spectator, in modern clothes, tangentally affiliated with the drum corps in the video (my nephew, camping nearby the event and visiting for the day)

do you know of any group like this near greenfield mass? i would like to join one i play flute but i play native american flute and there where ntive americans who fought in the civil war :P

that bass drum needs some work, it's got too much ring to it.

Original instruments didn't crack like playing on a table top, and they didn't sound anything like a modern tonal bass as they weren't muffled so they had a definite ring to them, and the snares could be said to growl. Muffles on drums only became prevelant after microphones were invented because if you played a bass drum anywhere near an original microphone, you stood a great chance of blowing it out.
