Lego Mindstorms RCX - CD-changer

When I was going to buy a new CD-player around Christmas 2002, I knew one thing - I wouldn't have one with a CD-changer, because:
1. I wouldn't need one.
2. I wanted to build my own one!
And here it is!

The magazine of the CD-changer has a capacity of 15 CDs and it takes approximately 2 minutes to change CD in the player, depending on which level the CDs are found. All you need to do to change CD is to use the Lego Mindstorms remote-control and send the index-number of the desired CD, and then the CD-changer will automatically take out the the playing CD, put it in its place, pick the new CD up and put it in the player.

A tricky thing with the construction was that I was limited to one RCX, and there for just three in and outputs. One brilliant idea I had to give up, was to use pneumatics to pick up the CD with vacuum, cause it would have taken to many outputs. The final edition is among other things, using a differential to first grip the CD, before it picks it up diagonally backwards with the same motor in the same move.

I used 1 RCX-unit, 3 motors, 3 touch-sensors, 1 light-sensor and heaps of other Lego-pieces.
