first he puts half af the cards that are normal in the top and the half on the bottom are double backed cards so when he counts the double backed cards he doesn't show the other side but when he shows the normal cards he can show them becuase they are normal then he tells you to pick one of the normal cards and so it is the only card that is normal facing down so when you see the other side you really see the back side of the normal cards and the frount of the double backed cards
