From Associated Press, "Teena Marie, the "Ivory Queen of Soul" who developed a lasting legacy with her silky soul pipes and with hits like "Lovergirl," "Square Biz," and "Fire and Desire" with mentor Rick James, died on Sunday, December 26. She was 54."

I'm a black woman & Teena transcended the color barrier. Played every instrument, wrote & arrangement all her songs (masterpieces), and sung with so much soul, yet effortlessly. Her lyrics were profoundly brilliant. Her vocals were stellar.

First and foremost, After reading some of the comments here, I'm perplexed how people are arguing about Tina's race. Does it really matter? You know what her race is: Human! She was part of the human race! I'm so sick of racism in this world! It's one of the most ridiculous, worthless and hateful emotions anyone can carry around in their minds and hearts.
