thanks for posting these. Just this week I have made some big changes in my own diet. I am convinced that diet is going to make a HUGE difference in my MS symptoms.

Not that I know specifics, but have you tried adding coconut oil (or mct oil) to your diet? Coconut oil is mostly medium chain triglycerides, which are easily converted into ketones by the liver. Ketones are the other kind fuel besides glucose that most of the body can run on.

Hi, first time viewer here. I am the mom of a 22 year old daughter diagnosed with MS in 2006. I follow all that I can and try to convince her to as well. In listening to your comments and your experiences, pardon me if this question sounds stupid but if you "liquid" your food by blending and drinking (I know) my thought, maybe incorrectly though, would be that the process to break down liquid versus solids takes less energy? Just wondering if it makes any sense. Thank you for sharing your story.

This way of eating has a learning curve and we still have a lot to learn but absolutely worth it. What I'm learning from Dr. Wahls is that it's not just important what we take out of diet but what and how much we put in!! We as Americans are missing so many vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals that are crucial to optimal health and healing. Once we take out the food our body can not digest like gluten/dairy we can reverse dysbiosis (leaky gut) then begin taking in all those wonderful nutrients!

In addition to my daughter whom (remember we cured her Chrohn's thro SCD diet-yrs ago) I also have four teens. We have been gluten dairy free for the last 3 years but we all follow Dr. Wahls diet as of the last few months. We feel great! I myself have no illness that I am aware of but I feel better than I ever have...I'm 45. We notice much more energy, I've quit drinking coffee, improved memory, skin improvements and much better sleep patterns. If this is what we see improving what don't we see?

Awesome news!! I am so impressed with the decisions you are making! I'm very frustrated for you to hear this is causing you weakness but good for you for doing what you know is right! Jan 1st I began working with a very dear friend of mine who also has MS. I showed her videos and some related articles but clearly the video TEDxIowaCity - Dr. Terry Wahls - Minding Your Mitochondria...got her on board!! Seeing what her research and progress has done to her own health is incredible but logical!

@Tesora2011 MS has me going in circles trying to figure out what to do. No patterns have emerged except that if I plan on going out for a haircut or something, I never eat anything and drink very little due to bladder problems and fatigue.
I got up today after 10 hours sleep and was feeling strong, then I ate 3 tangerines and became super weak the rest of the day like I was being pulled down by heavy bricks.
BTW, I almost missed your reply cause you didn’t like it to my comment.
I've thought a lot about your getting weak after you eat. I notice a change in my energy level whenever I eat, clearly not like you experience but it is there. As you said, I hope that once you stick to your diet and begin reversing the dysbiosis you will feel less tired. I hope you will read Dr. McDougall and what he teaches about BBB -blood brain barrier and PD-MS. He's said it can take three months for BBB to heal. I've seen parallels in the 3 month healing time through other research.

@HelenFields Thanks so much for your thoughtful comments and encouragement. I have been on the Wahls plan 10 days now and feeling much better. I also have heard about the 3month threshold and am very curious to see what develops by spring.

Entropy56: Actually, yes. However, once I began keeping highly detailed notes of my daily activities and food intake relative to MS activity, discrepancies emerged. Sometimes, I'd feel energized after eating, sometimes fatigued, sometimes hot, sometimes cold and stiff. These reactions would last anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours. Yet, I would experience none of the above -- and typically feel a spike of energy and partially restored function -- after a protracted period of food abstinence.
