Skating is definitely not for wimps. I just started skating last year as an adult, and know that I will never get to the top levels of skating. However, I'm not letting that stop me from improving my own skating, and admiring those at the top levels.

I loved it, it inspired me to become a figure skater :)

people underestemate figure skating, if a figure skater like Sasha Cohen falls, she gets up and skates. A normal person would cry and go to the hospital..
Figure skating is defenetly tough and most people forget that..

totally sums up figure skating, it doesnt matter how much hard work it takes. its soo worth it!

I am still learning the single jumps, and skate only two to four hours a week. I have been mocked by hockey players, and I often come home with aches and pains. Figure skating is tough, but I would never give it up. I LOVE FIGURE SKATING!!!!! <3

yeah this training is fuckin tough. that training intensity is tough. figure skaters are tough hardass athletes, tougher than a two dollar steak. now i think of it way tougher than hockey players and speed skaters
-
@cyclenut I wish I started when I was younger too.

Finally an accurate display of what we go through. I however don't miss training 25-30 hrs a week

I've been learning figure (dance) skating for 3 years (3 years total on ice). Last year I broke my leg and ankle learng the right foot 3-turn.
Dance skating take a lot. I run, bike and run up 6 to 12 floors carrying 20lbs every day.I still feel the muscles aking after a couple hours dancing.
When I see people getting it on, I respect them...and none of them look at me funny for leaning backward step overs....At 48, I whish I started when I was 3....
I totally agree, figure skating is tough. I hate how people say it is girly and stuff like that. Most peoeple could never last a day as a figure skater.
