Mustang Freedom - Prescott Folk Festival 2009

I wrote this song after reading Joe Camp's (the author of the Benji books & movies) moving article on the terrible treatment of the Wild Mustang horses in the western United States at the hands of our government and the cattle ranchers (See: http://thedesertinde.com for article.) The United States government would like to kill more than 30,000 of these horses it has captured, rather than feed them. They don't want to release them as they compete for the grazing grass the ranchers use on public land that is set aside by law for the Mustangs.
Mustang Freedom was performed at the Prescott Folk Festival in Prescott, Arizona. It features Bob Winkler on guitar & lead vocals, Sharon Guzman on lead vocals, and Mike Jenkins on dobro, Louree Carter on fiddle and vocals. Video by Larry Brown.
