http://plumbing-forums.dunbarplumbing.com - Here is a video of a drain cleaning job. Floor drain that was backing up whenever the washing machine dumped. What was odd was we were there not 4 days prior and attempted to clear what was an obstruction in the piping arrangement involving the laundry tub and the standpipe.

We improved the flow for both fixtures but given that it is all piped in 1.5" (washing machine standpipe should always be 2") the resistance in the piping is hard to remove given it is undersized. Never did the water come up out of the floor drain during this method of cleaning.

Numerous days later and that's when we got the call to say the floor drain was backing up. We informed the customer that in order to clean the rest of the piping system that we must have access to the main cleanout. There is a narrow bathroom in the basement but given the age of the toilet and the inability to work inside the narrow bathroom, gaining access to the primary cleanout is the best move.

Call Dunbar Plumbing the next time your drains clog or your floor drains start bellowing black wastewater. 859-359-4833 or http://dunbarplumbing.com/ for more information.
