  • This old Sailor loved "Anchor's Aweigh" for the first 5 carriers, but when Enterprise was up, and you played the Navy Hymn, The tears started flowing. As we say, in the Navy, Bravo Zulu!!!! =Stefan=

  • i wonder what an angled deck coversion for the lexington class would look like

  • My grandfather was a pilot on the USS Saratoga CV-3 during WWII. He was in Night Air Group 53. He flew Hellcats and Avengers at night over Iwo Jima. I'm not 100% sure but I think the actor Robert Stack was also in CVG (N) 53. You can tell the Saratoga by the stripe on its funnel, hence the nickname "Stripe Stacked Sara." After the Kamikaze attack on the Saratoga my grandfather was moved to the USS Kula Gulf. My grandfather passed away in 1989, I promised my mom that I would keep his memory alive

  • USS Kennedy CV-67, USS Saratoga CV-60

  • I'm retired Navy...........give me a "Birdfarm" ever time!!!

  • @DarthOrbit watch the history channel, show called battle 360, it is about the enterprise and shows you why is deserved the 20 battles stars and was named the lucky e. proud ship and brave men aboard it. enterprise vs japan!!!! for along time and it rocked them

  • it fails to note that the Hornet was also sunk

  • The Wasp was a minature of the Yorktown and Enterprise, that was made to try to solve problems spotten in the two former ships

  • @Steve17010 The Lexington and Saratoga were meant to be Battlecruisers, not Aircraft Carriers, but after the plans were changed, the Saratoga was farther along than the Lexington, thus dictating the displacement difference

  • It's interesting that the video states that Saratoga and Lexington had different displacements. They were sister ships of the same class. Their displacement should be about the same.
