Identifying lawn grasses is a challenge for many contractors.
[What grass is that] - in this video we are having a look at a Buffalo lawn [Stenotaphrum secundatum]. You can see that it generally has a more of a blue green colour compared with Kikuyu grass [Pennisetum clandestinum].
Buffalo grass only has Stolons (quite thick as you can see). Whereas Kikuyu has both Stolons and Rhizomes.
Buffalo grass has been made popular as the preferred choice for home owners and landscapers in shady areas. Popular Buffalo grasses are Sir Walter and Kings Pride.
