Sam Battaglia AKA Teets was another Chicago mobster of the post Capone era who got his start in the notorious 42 gang. They were teenage "cowboys" kids so wild even the Capone mob kept them at arms length for awhile. They were wild but they had a lot of talent. The kind of talent that you need when your a criminal organization that's trying to rule a city with fear and intimidation. So starting with Tony Acardo 42 members began becoming part of the organization that was taking shape in the post Capone era. These were feared hoods like Sam "Momo" Giancana, Louis "Cockeyed Louie" Fratto, Felix Alderisio "Milwaukee Phil", "Mad" Sam DeStefano, Charles "Chuckie" Nicoletti, Fiore "Fifi" Buccieri, Albert Frabotta, William "Smokes" Aloisio, Frank "Skids" Caruso, William"Willie Potatoes" Daddano. They were a powerful faction within the organization jockeying for power like the Cicero, Chinatown and other groups that made up the outfit.

Sam was tight with the other "42" Sam's De Sefano and Giancana and ended up living not far from both of them in the nice house seen in this clip in north Oak Park. His specialty was juice loans and narcotics. While the syndicate itself didn't deal in drugs they choose who did and set the policies for the trafficking. He was Giancana's choice to succeed him in the mid 60's but Battaglia lost out to Cicero hoods Joey Aiuppa and Jackie "the Lackey" Cerone. Shortly afterwords Battaglia was convicted of extortion and sentenced to16 years in prison where he ended up dieing six years later
