Im no expert but why did you guys just hold the puppy? its good you helped her get the pup out but you should have let the mum clean the pup whilst you used the suction... its like you just took over...

My chihuahua is about to have puppies for the second time in a matter of about 5 days and I'm planing to make sure it's all quiet when the contractions begin and not have a bunch of people around and talk that loud.Poor dog, giving birth is enough difficult as it is, the least you could do is be quiet and not have visitors around.Plus, you do not take the puppy away from it's mother right after the birth, unless there seem's to be a problem. Being separated from her puppy only means more stress.
