@iiAmitx3 The problem that day was that she said she didn't expect the casket to be there. She thought it was a memorial, not a funeral. Plus they called her last minute, she accepted immediately though she had not rested and the time of the day was terrible for her voice. Then on her arrival they told her she was the first act and sent her right to the stage.That's why she wore what she wore and sounded like that.

It makes me question the rumors about her vocal deterioration post-1996 and wonder if her workaholic tendencies were causing hoarse voice, and if negative emotions from her divorce and subsequent breakdown were impeding her performance ability. We all know anxiety, nerves, etc. can restrict oxygen flow and make singing and performing more difficult. In the Home for the Holidays performances she seems peaceful and happy, and her strong voice reflects it! :-)
