Arai Profile Review

Arai is the only motorcycle helmet manufacturer that offers its helmets in different internal head shapes. Arai make a great helmet.

The Arai Profile Helmet is a Long Oval head shape as opposed to the now discontinued Quantum II being a "round head" fit. The Arai profile caters to folks with long oval shaped heads who get pressure points on the forehead from intermediate oval helmets. For round heads out there the Arai RX-Q is quite a comfortable fit. Head shape is critical when it comes to proper helmet fitting.

In Europe the Arai Profile helmet is known as the Arai Viper GT.

The shell is Arai's Complex Laminate Construction which is a fiberglass composite that is strong and light, allowing the use of softer, less-dense liner fabrics for excellent comfort. The dual intake & dual exhaust ventilation system flows a ton of air when riding in a medium upright position, keeping your head cool and dry. The brow ventilation system flows cool air to the upper face area with vents at the upper faceshield, without compromising the strength or protective elements of the helmet. Arai has become known for the quality of these small details. The liner is antimicrobial and anti-bacterial, fully removable and washable as well as the cheekpads. The removable breath guard and chin curtain help to prevent fogging by deflecting breath away from the shield.

The helmet has a narrower and taller internal height and narrow sides. It comes with replacement cheek pads in different sizes so the fit can be customised.

The Arai Profile uses infinite adjustment system for raising and lowering the visor. It has a snap lock on the lower left hand side of the visor.

It has a retractable chin guard that keeps cold air out and reduces noise.

The helmet vents extremely well. There is a vent directly over the mouth that goes a long way towards preventing fogging. Arai integrates a brow vent into the top of the visor. Some riders report that they can feel the air moving though the helmet just walking around.

It is a very well made, comfortable quiet helmet designed for riders with long oval head shapes. It provides superb ventilation, with nearly identical set of top vents, visor and liner to the Quantum II. It has a full width spoiler.

It is a quiet helmet and it flows more air over the top of the rider's head than the Quantum II did. The Arai Profile is profoundly quiet when all vents are closed.

The Profile shows Arai's usual attention to detail in the thick paint and high quality.

The Profile is incredibly light weight and is nicely balanced and it doesn't seem noticeable when riding. The helmet uses a D-ring attachment and not an overly complex "quick release" latch.

The helmets are all hand made in Japan and the attention to quality is unmistakable. The paint, engineering, finish and fit are all top notch. It is a relatively light helmet.

Overall the Arai Profile is a terrific premium helmet for those riders with long oval heads. The workmanship, features, quality and performance are all up there.

The Arai Profile is Snell M2010 compliant.

  • Coming from a Scorpion and Shoei changing the visors were easier because i could see the parts. I went to my local bike shop and they helped me do this and i am actually really good at it now, @Darwin604 you are right not as bad as it first was.

The issue i had was for the price, you can't see what your doing and with out someone putting you on track the first time can make a buyer very nervousand possibly break the helmet like i did...

    Great helmet and great review.

  • @drjones694 What are you smoking? Sure the Scorpion EXOs and Shoeis are super easy to change but it takes all of about 30 seconds to swap Arai shields. I think it might take me like 10 seconds longer to change my Profile shield than my RF1100. It's not crazy easy but it sure isn't hard. There's a couple tabs you flip up and yank the thing out - to install the new one you literally just line it up (super easy) and ram the thing in. Read the manual dude.

  • great helmet light and full of features but buyer beware... changing the visors is insanely difficult for the price you pay... have changed scorpion exo 700 and shoei.s and never had this much trouble switching visors for day and night. the visors come off if you do it right... then putting the new one on is the worst ...
