Il Karsilama progetto è stato inizialmente istituito dal Okay Temiz per il Balkan Brass 2 ° Meeting in Grecia nel 1997. Per Temiz, rappresenta tutta una serie di interessanti e nuove prospettive e l'evoluzione ulteriore di una carriera ricca di sperimentazione musicale mondiale.
Karsilama significa "riunione" e "benve...nuto".
"Il suono della zurna, uno dei più antichi strumenti della musica tradizionale del Medio Oriente, ha una superficie ruvida, carattere primordiale. Non solo il zurna difficile da suonare e mantenere in sintonia, ma è anche molto forte, spesso facendo impopolare tra i colleghi musicisti. D'altra parte, è particolarmente efficace in combinazione con i tamburi come il davul-darbuka, una doppia parete del tamburo. Insieme, la zurna e il davul sono i due strumenti più importanti per l'accompagnamento musicale di matrimoni tradizionali, danze e cerimonie di circoncisione. Nell'Europa occidentale Tracia sul Mar Egeo, tre, quattro, otto, anche dieci zurna di unirsi,batteristi, davul e suonare fino a quando i bocchini sono usurati. A mio parere, I migliori musicisti di zurna provengono dalla Turchia Est e Centrale e dai Balcani.
Ahmet Özden è un musicista di zurna giovane ed ha imparato a suonare e capire lo strumento dai suoi antenati. Un esperto sulle tecniche e la storia dello zurna, si sente impegnato a sostenere le sue tradizioni. Allo stesso tempo, però, è un musicista che si sforza costantemente di ampliare la portata del suo strumento.
Come in altri miei progetti, io uso un gran numero e varietà di strumenti a percussione che ho raccolto in molti paesi diversi.

The Karsilama-project was originally set up by OKAY TEMIZ for the 2nd Balkan Brass Meeting in Greece in 1997. For TEMIZ, it represents a whole range of new and interesting perspectives and the further evolution of a career rich in world music experimentation.
Karsilama means "meeting" and "welcome".
"The sound of the zurna, one of the oldest instruments in the traditional music of the Middle East, has a rough, primeval character. Not only is the zurna difficult to play and keep in tune, it is also very loud, often making it unpopular among its player's fellow musicians. On the other hand, it is especially effective in combination with drums such as the davul-darbuka, a double-skinned drum. Together, the zurna and the davul are the two most important instruments for the musical accompaniment of traditional weddings, dances and circumcision ceremonies. In Western Thracia on the Aegean Sea, three, four, eight, even ten zurna players join davul drummers and play until the mouthpieces are worn out. In my opinion, the best zurna players come from Eastern Central Turkey and the Balkans.
Ahmet Özden is a young zurna musician who learned to play and understand the instrument from his ancestors. An expert on the techniques and history of zurna playing, he feels committed to upholding its traditions. At the same time, however, he is a musician who constantly endeavours to widen the scope of his instrument.

"The Reason for circumcision is to bring about a decrease in sexual intercourse and a weakening of the organ in question, so that this activity be diminished and the organ be in as quiet a state as possible. The bodily pain caused to that member is the real purpose of circumcision. Violent concupiscence and lust that goes beyond what is needed are diminished."
