If Earth Could Speak: Global Water Stress
By Kirk Hylan

Water consumption for mostly every use should come from the oceans via Desalinization Plants. Using water from this source provides us with the only chance at saving cities like New York and countless others, which are situated at or near sea level. It is my suggestion that we encourage persons, businesses and governments to use water from this source without restriction. In fact, we would encourage use in every conceivable way bordering on abandon. We would use desalinized water for everything. This would include drinking, animal production, farming, manufacturing processes, watering our lawns and gardens, etc. We should take the concepts that The Romans developed and expand on it globally to build a network of aqueducts worldwide, where appropriate. The aqueducts can refill lakes, streams and aquifers that have become depleted from continued over-extraction. These aqueducts can be powered by pumps that are serviced by solar panels and corkscrew wind vane power generators alongside of the aqueducts. If we can pump oil across Alaska then we can certainly pump water to all of the inhabited regions of the Earth. This would relieve the stress on nations that are in traditionally arid regions. Approximately one-third of the worlds population lives in countries with moderate to high water stress. Consider that this can be solved by the provision of desalinized water to all populations. However, even if every country built these plants and used the water for merely just those purposes mentioned above the reduction in sea levels might remain relatively unaffected or possibly even continue to rise. The next section offers the solution to considerable water usage to draw down the impending rise of oceanic sea levels.

  • Visionary. I would like massive tankers to ship melting Greenland water, rather than having it divert through moulins to the ocean.
