G20 Pittsburgh: Obama Arrives at Summit Venue

US President Barack Obama arrives at the venue in Pittsburgh where the G20 meeting is being held, and meets the first participants.

Heads of state and government from the G20, representing the world more advanced economies, gathers in the U.S. city of Pittsburgh for a two days meeting that focuses on the worldwide financial crisis and how to avoid a repeat in the future.

The European Union is represented by José Manuel Barroso, EC President, and Fredrik Reinfeldt from the EU Swedish Presidency. They are expected to push for international financial regulation through supervision of markets and caps on bonuses in the financial sector.

In a press conference, Fredrik Reinfeldt, Swedish Prime Minister and President-in-office of the Council, explained that banks seems to be returning to the pre-crisis compensation policies and added that the idea that banks should be allowed to keep profits for themselves but send the bill of looses to tax payers will not be accepted.

José Manuel Barroso, EC President, said that Europe has too much to offer to global governance, and explained that the European Commission has been the first to announce concrete legislative proposals to create a European system of financial supervision.

900 billion dollars for one summit! These elites are the aloof of the aloof, they need to be brought back to reality, removed from their towers and castles, and stripped of all their elitist pompousness. We need government who serves the people, not people who serve the government. Oh where, oh where did things get so backwards? Let's look at 1913 for some answers to that question.
