Simple comparison to weights, sizes and boil time between the mini brass Trangia and the stainless steel Tatonka alcohol burners ... with a bit of foolishness thrown in for fun.

  • Jet boil lids always melt if used while cooking.

  • @bluemountaindrivepae YES they do ... unless you're using them on the Jet Boil ... always worked well on that but the direct flames aren't hitting the lid on that set up.

  • What is your homemade shield made out of and how did you make it exactly? <-- i know its a stupid question btw :o)

  • @Brainbox96 Not a stupid question at all ... what I use is aluminum flashing material you can pick up at most hardware stores ... just score it with a straight edge and a box cutter ... use a file or coarse sand paper to take the sharp of the tips and edges ... and you're good to go! You might want to bore holes along the bottom edge ... I usually don't but see how it could benefit.

  • nice

  • The difference in boil time may just boil down nyuk...nyuk... to how much mass is around the flame area. Mass absorbs heat. The Tatonka has a bit more mass??? I think

  • @Bushwhittler Works great ... thanks for watching!

  • Silicone tubing what great idea. Thanks for sharing.

    Take care: Ari

  • hi, great comparison video, just wanted to mention that if you did not already know, it is recommended by trangia that you can add a drop of water to the burner fuel before lighting and this will stop the bottom of you pots, mugs or pans getting all sooted up...4

it is a pity that the stainless burner has a bigger butt as it will obviously not fit inside the trangia cooking systems and that burner looks to be stronger built.

    thanks for the video
