first time I visited nyc, after I got off the plane, jumped on a bus, and got to the subway, I had to pull a bum fucked out of his brain off of the train tracks while the train's light could be seen illuminating the tunnel like 200 feet away. They can stop so it wasn't a huge deal... but we pulled him onto the platform (it's about chest-height if you stand on the tracks) and his pants were completely down. he just laid there. I love that place.

@midinerd LOL!!! For some reason, I can picture that scene in my head, what you just described, as being in a future comedy movie starring Seth Rogen.

it was pretty fucking awesome and hilariously anti-climactic. I bet that dude just hangs out there taking dumps all of the time. . I ran up to him saying "Yo, we gotta get you up here!" he looked at me like I was crazy, so I was hesitant to give him my hand thinking he'd just pull me down to his house, on the tracks. wtf. good shit though, and it was a 'good deed' so whatever. yes, then a dude ran up, we grabbed both of the bums hands, and pulled him up. pants around his ankles diaperstyl

I agree, I went to Egypt and have never though less of humans after seeing how those people live and act. I know it sounds bad but the slums of Cairo are awful.

Yes, it does sound harsh, but I think there is a degree of truth in your observations of Cairo and mine of NYC. Also, it wasn't my experiences in NYC, that started to erode my faith in humanity. It was a life long thing. When I started living on my own and paying bills, I lost all sympathy for those who CHOOSE to be pricks to people, those who complain CONSTANTLY about their problems without trying to fix them, those who label themselves the victim in every circumstance, etc.

The things I stated may sound weird, but sadly, in most of the people I have met these things are fairly common. I mean no one is perfect, but some people take being negative and not being responsible for your own life as an adult (You can't control everything that comes into your life, but A LOT of it you can.) to a pretty high level. If people TRULY want to help make the world a better place, work on living with integrity so that it hopefully is picked up by those who want to change.

well, i'm not saying because people are douchebags, or some rather, that you shouldn't travel. i just mean it's silly to lose faith in humanity because of an isolated incident. for instance, you may not like new york, but you don't give up hope on the world.
