Riverdance - RiRa (the Broadway version of oscail an doras)

RiRa from Riverdance 2000/2001.

Love the costumes and music!

This number was choreographed for the "Riverdance on Broadway" run in 2000 when the new costumes and sets were introduced. It must have been incorporated into all the the troupe tours in the early 2000s and Oscail and Doras has now been re-introduced. If you see the show today, they dance Oscail an Doras different from this video and the original version of Oscail an Doras with Jean Butler.

In the flight from famine and poverty, musical instruments were an unknown luxury. "Mouth Music" often used by the Celtic nations was now revived as a substitute dance accompaniment and also as relief from the tedium of manual labour."

Do you have more video from Riverdance on Broadway? I can't find any. I watched this performance and I loved it, but can't find it here on Youtube... And I can't find the DVD either... I was really found of Athena Tergis as the fiddler.

This is actually taken from the Geneva DVD from 2001/2002. I'm pretty sure its the exact same production as the Broadway show but with different leads. I have Countess Cathleen and Russian Dervish and I know for a fact that there is Reel around the Sun and Riverdance on here somewhere. I'll try and find some links.
