why are there all these videos on youtube about "removing" vocals from a song and everytime I listen to and watch them the vocals are still there...they haven't been removed??? some are cut back alot but still can be heard...so they haven't been removed

1. We're not professional track editors
2. We don't own the original tracks, so the programs we use to remove the vocals (i.e. usually the center channel, if there is one) does not remove the main vocals only. I think only the record companies own the individual tracks, or it's possible to buy them karaoke-ized online somewhere.
Sorry if you feel these videos are a waste of your time

I have Audacity. How would I be able to ONLY remove the vocal track if I have no master, just MP3s?

i don't know how Audacity works, but my program auto-detects what it "thinks" is the lead part and reduces it. It's not perfect, that's why you still get that "backtrack" or echo effect going on. You could use Help>Index to find anything relating to removing vocals or parts of a song? The videos I made used mp3s as well.
