This passage which is Exodus 12:1-2 is dealing with the institution of the Passover. If bible students study carefully they will find that the time frame here is around March & April. We know this because the 14th day of the first month is the Passover which is the month of Abib, Leviticus 23:5-6. This year the Passover will fall on April 16th at sundown.
