Thumbs up if you hate all the 'drug comments' on meditation music videos. Meditation is about well-being - not 'tripping'.

Meditation is about transforming the mind, taming it in the process.

Using drugs is also about transforming the mind, but by setting it loose in the process, not by taming it.

This may explain why there seems to be some overlap.

I personally believe, as does Sam Harris, that if one wants to fully experience reality in all of its facets, to open all doors of perception, one needs to be open for drugs which can alter your state of mind. Only use it very sporadically and not when u r depressed!

I know what you mean, but meditation essentially is transforming the mind to a certain mental state (a state of well-being), and one uses drugs for the same reason, that is to alter your consciousness and perception of reality.

In essence they are one and the same but there are pivotal differences of course. Meditation needs discipline, effort and practice whereas drug use is conventionally contrary to these things. M is for every day and has long term effect, D u don't ideally use daily

15, and anger problems, trying to calm down and also see what about life I can help "realize" yes, I have done drugs before and that's kind of what turned me on to this, but now being sober I think I could find a better and more helpful use than to just trip.
