An exclusive look at some of the extensive underwater footage taken in 2001 by The Bluebird Project of Donald Campbell's Bluebird K7 as it was first discovered on the bottom of Coniston water, and then subsequently lifted in stages back to the surface for the first time in 34 years. Giving some idea of the difficult conditions faced by the divers, this video also features exclusive stills photography by guitarist Steve Rothery of the band Marillion, who also kindly allowed use of some tracks from their song 'Out Of This World', the original inspiration behind The Bluebird Project.

It amazes me that it took SO LONG before this project was undertaken. Perhaps it was something to do with survivor guilt, and the guilt of being British
It's no surprise that "higher authorities" played a hand in this, and that the project has been finally left in the hands of decent people once the carrion-eaters ran out of sustenance
