@Supenmanu I think this story fits to any kind of opportunistic form of society. We see a totally hysterical society, which is not really "better" than the murderer himself. They act stupid and just instinctively. It is pretty much about the things that were going out in this period of time. The more the people accepted radical solutions, the more reactionary they got. It is a lot about this theme and of course those social things aren't limited to the Nazi regime.

and other people like Joseph Roth saw this particular system coming. So I'm pretty sure with this informations on my hand, that "M" was perfectly a parable of the system that was rising in this years.

very talented to see some "movement" in the society. In example, Joseph Roth written "Das Spinnennest" (The spider's web in your language) in the same year of the Putsch, even before the Putsch. In his book he talks about a system which was very similiar to the regime which was there later on. The most interesting thing in all those information is the case that nobody can say today "we didn't know what Hitler wanted". Of course, everybody knew it. He talked about this himself ("Mein Kampf")

@hallo1521 Firstly, you're fully right with this historical dates, but even if it was not intended to be a parable of the concret regime it doesn't mean that it is not fitting perfectly and it really does. Furthermore, I am not really sure that M wasn't intended to be a parable. Why? Because firstly the so called "Hitler-putsch" was 1923. Hitler didn't succeded and the press about him as a person was really bad in Weimarer Republik of course. But intellectual people like Joseph Roth were

@Supenmanu The Nazis banned this movie because it shows the police as weak and not capable of keeping the law. That makes the country look weak

I don't know if i got it right, but it seems that some of the young people in Germany nowadays try to interpret this masterpiece in a way so that it can be used to spread hatred against Nazis. And of course the Nazis back then interpreted in such a way so as to use it to spread hatred against Jews. Even though the movie itself isn't political at all. I don't think this masterpiece should be abused for any such political purposes much less for de-valuing people. That's not what it's about at all.
