I think it looks great. I sell houses for a living & people hate the look of the original fireplace. Great job, lots of work involved.

Just looks fake now. Looked better before. I hate when people ruin good honest materials with some phony stone look a like. Also the fireplace smoked like hell before and it will after as I don't see that you did anything to correct the poor design. You should have at least started a few fires and see if raising the grate a brick or two wouldn't have eliminated the smoking.
