Myself, demonstrating a Ninjutsu roll.
This video is posted with the sole purpose of proving I don't just hang around Choson Ninja and his friends because they're cool. Kitty got claws. Rawr! : )

WARNING: Please, please, please do not take this as instruction, or try anything of the sort! I first had to do it on all four, then on my knees, then crouching, then standing up. Then I could CONSIDER diving face-first (poorly). Not to mention the fact, that I had the luxury of two qualified instructors teaching me in person, in a hall with rubber floors. It took me around four months to get to this level of confidence. Still, failure to maintain correct hand positions caused me to injure a thumb two months ago.

Once again: if you're looking for mentors - go to my subscriptions page. It's bursting with warriors so mighty, each of them could break me in half with a dirty look. I, on the other hand, do not hold any official Bujinkan ranks, nor am I one of Sensei Park's assistant instructors. And it shows... This is pure, distilled fun. ^-^

  • After watching this video, I finally realized where I was wrong. I am forever in debt to you...

  • Uh, glad to help?... :)

  • I was looking for some roll examples to help me out with my training and even I know that this was not even close to a ninjutsu roll. Like Aderjin said, it's over the shoulders with your legs close to your body, etc.

If the person did indeed teach you to roll like that, then he is not teaching Ninjutsu at all.

  • I have reason to believe you may be right.

  • So what did you find out? Did you just learn it worng ( I find that doubtful ), or is he really teaching people to roll like that and calls it ninjutsu?

I asked my sensei today and described this roll and he told me that no such roll exists. I know my sensei is legit because our dojo is part of the bujinkan org. and he received the license to teach from Soke Hatsumi. They also get a year membership teaching card or whatnot. You could find out that way, if you already haven't.

  • check out my ninja rolls ova my own height onto hard dirt in my video 'urban nintard'

    cheers

  • Yes and ones foot position from start to finish aswell.

  • How can you make a poor comment on his roll when you dont have some kind of vid. resp. showing you doing a perfect roll of your own? And I also like how you all think your ninjas, face it your not.

  • You obviously do not study Ninjutsu as that was most definitely not a Ninjutsu roll...

When you came out of the roll you hit your feet hard on the ground, that never happens in a Ninjutsu roll. Everything has to be as smooth as possible to prevent as much damage as possible. Try landing softly and in a crouched position next time, with your leading foot in front of the other leg.

And by the way Rhinoman45672, when Ninja do forward rolls they do roll on their shoulders.

  • haha, i gotcha man. no worries.
