Imagine trying to recruit a complete stranger into CKI in just 60 seconds. What would you tell them? Although difficult, this was the question I consistently asked myself when brainstorming for this year's video.
The idea of the "frozen in time" concept developed over the summer when I watched Michelle Branch's "All you wanted" music video. Although an oldie, it had various scenes where time stood still as she continued to sing in real time. I loved it. I did more research and found videos that were similar in concept, such as Carousel's "Clown's vs Cops," or Corridor Digital's "Frozen Crossing Alpha." With the ideas set, I decided to make each scene revolve around a specific part of CKI Culture. For instance, I wanted to capture the chaos of a club meeting, the excitement of a service project, or the fun of a typical social.
To pull off the illusion of frozen in time, I had each person on set stand extremely still, as the camera moved around them. Each scene took at least 4-5 takes, since people would often blink. More than 50 extras total were used, including Kiwanians and Key Clubbers. When principle photography was over, post production was an even bigger nightmare, since I had to learn new software. All in all, post production took around 20 hours, spread over the course of a week. I especially wanted the soundtrack to be unique. I wanted the music to be raw, aggressive, and full of energy. I stumbled upon Skrillex when I went on a road trip to LA a couple months back. From that time on, I couldn't get enough of his sound. I knew that I needed to get this into the video.
I hope you all enjoy this video as much as I do. This was a labor of love and couldn't have been done without the help of many people. It is a product of months of planning, countless hours of shooting, dozens of extras and downright passion to deliver you an experience you've never seen before.

P.S. We sprinkled easter eggs throughout each scene in the form of grey UNLV T-Shirts (don't get it confused with UNLV CKI shirts). See how many you can spot.
Too epic for Kiwanians to judge?

I LOVE YOU NATHAN VILORIA!! You have shaped this club for the better, from being my president and showing me how to be a Circle K'er!
Your club video is so inspiring and phenomenal, the consideration of our club, our division, our district, and international was admirable. The amount of care you put into this deserves every recognition we can give.
What I love most is, it looks beautiful in whole, and in the new details I discover each view!
