The longer you have type I diabetes the less likely you are to register c-peptide. The reason I did a video on c-peptide is to try and point-out how important c-peptide is in preventing the long-term complications of type I diabetes. The best way to explain this is to show you the company's website developing the treatment for type I diabetes c-peptide replacement. The name of the company is Cebix and the website is: http://www.cebix.com/

  • insulin resistance indicates an excess amount of (unused) insulin in the body and it will show up on blood tests.same with c-peptide:

c-peptide resistance indicates an excess amount of (unused) c-peptide in the body and it will show up on blood tests.

  • People who do not have diabetes a) they do not develop diabetic complications and b) they have normal levels of c-peptide. People with type 1 diabetes often show 'undetectable' levels of c-peptide because their islets do not produce insulin. People with type 2 diabetes show excess amounts of c-peptide because their islets produce insulin but their cells do not allow it either insulin or c-peptide to be used sufficiently.

  • c-peptide indicates that your islets are producing insulin. Often times, with Type 2 diabetes - it shows a high level of c-peptide because your islets are producing a lot of insulin to manage blood glucose but your cells are NOT allowing c-peptide to land on their receptors to provide the protection from diabetic complications. It's similar to the problem of insulin resistance.

  • No I used analogues from July 1984 (Humulin) unril May 2007. I started using Hypurin Regular that month and haven't changed since. I was mistaken as to the 'removal' of C-peptide in analogues. They don't use the "c-peptide" in their manufacturing process. The yeasts or e.coli are only given the A and B peptide of insul to reproduce. The c-peptide in animal insul is not the same structure as human c-peptide and is not effective in the same way ;(

  • Type 1s are a captive audience. Only 10% of Type 2s inject insulin. C-peptide repairs the effects of insulin carrying glucose out of the blood and into the cells and Type 2s injecting insulin still make insulin -- so they h ave C-peptide. This is why Type 1 complications occur in CELL WALLS and Type 2 complications occur in clots in the heart and brain -- TOO MUCH INSULIN! The only thing that protects Type 2s from complications is less blood sugar in the first place.

  • Allie,

I am misskitka on tu. If I use synthetics for 2 weeks I become hypo unaware, get terrible neuropathy, and the list of adverse affects is endless. Using Hypurin pork I am healthy and after 53 years with type one this next summer have no complications in the least. This has to mean something. I tested negative for c-peps on synth and positive with Hypurin. I agree that the intentional removal of c-peps is gross and disgusting. I test only 2-3 times a month.

    Be well and take care.

    Don

  • Let me say this again...I'm over the limit of C-peptide and my insulin is over as well.

  • I'm pretty lost with this C-peptide...I went had some blood test done and it seems

I have a very high c peptide but a normal glucose...anybody have any ideal on this?

  • There is alot of controversy about this that is for sure. I have never use porcine or bovine insulin, and have't researched them much. Is the c-peptide remvoed from these typically as well? BTW, do you change your insulin often? I tend to mix it up and switch my basal and bolus insulins every few months or so. Great vid.

  • Hey Allie :) Just wanted to drop a message to say how facinating your videos are, and how glad I am that you post them for all us diabetics to see. I have only seen a couple of videos so far, but I subscribed instantly. I am a 19-year-old girl from the UK, and we just don't seem to get such detailed info over here. I've been diabetic since I was six, and I was lucky enough to have a 'honeymoon phase' where I produced insulin again a couple of years after diagnosis...

  • SYMLIN=C-peptide.....if that helps. Although it is not a component of insulin, it is available.
