OMG so many memories as a kid! Family tables! The best is that they were cool with making me an egg mozzerella, & bacon omelette with some crispy hash browns. I live in Cali now so I really miss the hometown community style dining. If anyone watches the Food Channel, they need to do a show here for sure!

Much like the Ideal jingle that played endlessly on Channel 48 thru the 70s, Melrose Diner jingle is a classic.Prob. #2 in my book on the list of great classic jingles, right behind Ideal. i grew up in NE philly and didnt know where the heck anything was down in South Philly, but i knew there was some intersection of 15th St. , snyder and Passyunk from the great Melrose commercial. Still the best grilled cheese and tomato on rye anywhere on the planet
