@alanpowell1957 I hear you, loud and clear! Brings me back to November '77; I too wouldn't have missed it for all the world.

my best friend and I were just discussing the late 70's....like 5 minutes ago and how we would like to go back for one day or even a week...we have an official soundtrack to our childhood and this song is definitely on it...sigh.

@nomiclas - check this out - back in 1964 there were 3 songs that I had heard on the radio - 1010 WINS N.Y.- Bobby Paris "Who Needs You" - finally got the record in 1980, Chris Crosby "Young and In Love" - finally got the record in 2008,and Bobby Marchan "You Can't Stop Her" finally got it on you tube 2011 !!! NEVER GIVE UP !

@bundyboyno1, thanks for writing. You Tube did not notify me that you had done so. Back in the 70's I listened mostly to oldies,(60+70's),C+W ( The REAL COUNTRY MUSIC! ),but I always kept up with what was new. Somehow this song eluded me for more then 30 years !!! When I started hearing it about 5 years ago, it would blow me away every time I heard it - but I never heard who it was or the title !!! ( and I was'nt a fan of the Babys) - BUT - I finally got the answers to the question on my mind

@unclebillmusic doesn't it piss you off when you get a song stuck in your head(can't remember) or you heard it and it never comes on again(never find out).then there's always the end and you expect to have the name of the tune and you get a commercial instead?!

@alanpowell1957 So right. It was a heady time for me then. I was the first of my family in college, a long ways from home, and the world was wide open. That I'm still here and healthy sometimes amazes me.
-
@unclebillmusic bill like yourself it took me about 15 years of searching to find the group and the name of this classic

One of the greatest songs of the 70's.I was a schoolboy delivering bottles of milk during the freezing winter of 78 when this classic warmed me up when we had the radio at full blast...
everyone has good memories, but words fail me for the wonderful memories this great song brings back, oh for just one day back in '77

Amazing musicians, the most amazing of all is of course Michael Corby who along with an entrepreneur called Adrian Millar started this band. Michael lived his life for many years in musical obscurity after 1978 until "found" by Ken Sharp. It was only after this that the real origins of this group were revealed to mystified fans who had wondered what had "happened" to Michael and why a different band had recorded "Union Jacks." Michael is a composer who fleshed out waite's lyrics with music!
