Dapple is a color-matching puzzle game for the iPhone and iPod Touch with a twist! Make sets of four or more of the same color to eliminate blobs of paint from the board. Matches are made by mixing paints to form new colors. Watch out for brown paint, though. Let it spread too much and you could be in trouble!

This video walks you through Dapple's 3 game modes and explains how each one is played.

Dapple features highly addictive gameplay, beautiful artwork, and a terrific soundtrack.

Look for Dapple on the iPhone and iPod Touch in February 2009!

  • I'll let you in on something you probably have not considered. As a color blind person (I see no green and have difficulties with a few others), color oriented games like these are horrible.

Especially when the clock is ticking, it takes me too long to recognise the colors and am often wrong.

Anyway, that isn't anything anyone can remedy, but I just wanted to let you know.

  • Dapple actually supports a whole separate way of playing the game for colorblind players. You can turn on "Colorblind Mode" in the options menu, which changes the appearance of the board. One of my beta testers is colorblind, and he really helped me to make sure the game is fun and playable for colorblind players.

Check out the Dapple Trailer at 0:37 to see it (see my other videos).

I also recommend the Kotaku review of the game which focuses on colorblind mode (search Kotaku for Dapple)

  • The short answer is: because I liked the word and I felt like it fit the game. :-)

The longer answer is: "Dapple" literally means "spotted" or "to mark with spots". It's often used to refer to sunlight, or shade, but it can also be used with spots of color. I felt like it really represented the game well.
