@tberry563 That entirely depends on the quality of the parts you already have. In most Chinese made gearboxes (made after 2007), no. For Tokyo Marui or BE gearboxes, yes.

I was wondering if this spring would be compatible with the matrix m4a1 8mm gearbox airsoft rifle? and if so how could i install it? Because im planning on getting one of these but i dont want to risk ruining my AEG.

Yes it is compatible but you wouldn't need it if you got the M120 version of the Matrix Tactical M4A1 which already fires at 460fps. Look on YouTube for videos on how to take apart a V2 gearbox
