I love Barbara, but surprised no one has commented on the sound quality. But as free, it's ok.

A technically sound performance, but the voice is not in its prime any more. The Ruth Holton / Gardiner rendition is phenomenal - minimal vibrato (but not 'hooting') and excellent clarity of sound.

Did Barbara Schlick ever put a foot wrong? I think not. This is sublime. Why aren't performances like this more commercially available? I would happily have it grace my dvd shelves.

Wonderful Israeli-German cooperation, great music is universal.
There's a beautiful arrangement (actually a paraphrase) for piano of this movement by Harold Bauer. Highly recommended alongside the original.
