The novel Moby Dick was written in New Bedford, about six blocks from where I live; its impact on the literary world is amazing. Tavares, while not as "impacting" in the music world, still brings a lot of pride and joy to the citizens of The Whaling City. They're representative of the hard-working, talented people that live here, who make this city a shining jewel of America, despite our many challenges and problems.
